Frequently Asked Questions

ATTENTION: Please join us on Sunday mornings at 10 am, either in-person or on Facebook Live. We will keep you updated as we continue to phase-in. (See below for our latest COVID-19 updates.)

We are currently meeting on Sundays at 10am. *Doors open at 9:40am. Nursery, Preschool, and K-5 are available. Masks are not required, but should you feel more comfortable wearing a mask, we do have them available.

We would love to have you join us!

Here are our most current church attendance protocols:

Please stay home if:

  1. You have been directly exposed to COVID (even if you are not showing any COVID symptoms).
  2. OR, if you have been in close contact with someone who is running a fever over 100 and displaying other COVID-like symptoms.
  3. OR, if you are feeling unwell.

When can I return to church if I have had a positive COVID-19 diagnosis?

The most recent CDC guidance states that someone who has had COVID-19 can discontinue isolation once they have met the following criteria:

  1. It has been more than 10 days since your symptoms began AND
  2. You have been fever-free for more than 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications AND
  3. Other symptoms have improved
  4. Anyone who tested positive for COVID-19 but never experienced symptoms may discontinue isolation 10 days after they first tested positive for COVID-19.

When can I return to church if I have been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19?

Here is the criteria we are following:

  • After day 10 without testing and no symptoms
  • After day 7 after receiving a negative test result (test must occur on day 5 or later) and no symptoms

UPDATE! In April 2021, we updated our church attendance protocols for those who have been fully vaccinated. If you have been fully vaccinated, and have been around someone who has COVID-19, you will no longer need to stay home from church unless you have symptoms.

Thank you for helping us to keep everyone safe!

WEDNESDAY CHURCH UPDATE:

Fort Students (Grades 6-12) is currently meeting from 7 – 8 pm. *Pre-service prayer begins at 6:45 pm. Fort Kidz (Grades K-5) returns on Wednesday, September 8 and meets from 7 – 8 pm (upstairs). *Doors open at 6:45 pm.

What should I expect?

Expect to be welcomed in a relaxed, friendly atmosphere! Enjoy a cup of coffee, on us, once you arrive. Our Sunday morning service begins at 10:00 a.m. and generally lasts about an hour and a half. Our music is contemporary and acoustic-guitar led. Pastor Matt Sanford is our primary speaking pastor and seeks to communicate God’s Word in a way that is easy to understand and can be applied to our everyday lives. We'd love to have you join us!

FYI: We have a church app! To get connected simply text FORTDSMAPP to 77977. Listen to sermon podcasts, see upcoming events, submit prayer requests, give, and so much more!

What do you have for kids and teens?

During our Sunday morning service we provide a quality Nursery (6 weeks – 2 years) for your children in a bright and cheery atmosphere. We also provide Preschool (Ages 3 – 5) and Kid’s Church (Grades K-5). *Every 5th Sunday grades K-5 remain in the regular service for a Kid's Service which centers around them.

On Wednesday evenings Fort Kidz (K – 5th Grade) meets from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. (Fort Kidz runs September through April.) Our Student Ministries (Grades 6 – 12) meets from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. and runs year-round. *Student Ministries meets upstairs. *Pre-service prayer begins at 6:45 p.m.

We know as a parent you need to be sure your children and teens are in a SAFE environment. We also know your children are looking for a FUN place to learn. We want to make sure both of these goals are achieved. All of our volunteers love children and students and have been screened for your child's safety. We also provide a check-in system for Kid's Ministries during our Sunday morning service.

Your children are a priority to us! We take to heart Proverbs 22:6: “Direct your children onto the right path, and when they are older, they will not leave it” (NLT).

What should I wear?

We are casual in our dress. You don't need to be concerned with getting dressed up. We're more concerned with helping you follow Christ and bringing Him to people than we are with what you wear. So dress casually and you'll fit right in. The Lord is pretty clear in His Word, He looks at our hearts, not at our outward appearance (1 Samuel 16:7).

Do I need to bring my Bible?

Of course, feel free to bring your Bible, but it is not a requirement. Often times, people will look up the Bible passages on their phones through our church app. We are not picky about how you choose to read God's Word.

Do you have Sunday school?

Only for our senior adults. What we do have, before our Sunday morning service, is a time of fellowship for all members of the family in the Fort Cafe from 9:00 - 9:45 a.m. Come and join us for complimentary donuts and coffee!

*Our senior adults meet at 9 a.m. for Sunday school.

Where are you located?

We are located at 1116 Army Post Road on the south side of Des Moines and south side of the road. We sit quite a ways off of Army Post Road, so look for the 25’ cross!
